Making an Impression

Damian is a practising figurative painter based in Edinburgh who teaches drawing and painting classes for adults and art classes for children at his studio near Haymarket. In the spring and summer he runs landscape painting courses in and around Edinburgh, and his work can frequently be seen in exhibits in the city and beyond. He can often be found in the National Gallery on the Mound and other locations demonstrating drawing and painting techniques, but you can also follow his online classes including projects to get children to pick up a pencil or brush. Damian is also one of Pentland Art Club’s favourite visiting artists, giving welcome, positive appraisals of technique, but on this occasion he is visiting PBF to talk about his two books, Paint Like Degas and Paint Like Renoir. If you want some insights into the styles of these famous Impressionist artists and perhaps some hints to take away to practise (don’t worry – no practical work is required at the event), don’t dance around but get yourself down to Currie Library.
